Somapala Kodituwakku becomes a first-generation entrepreneur, at the age of 21,

Somapala & Co., a British automotive spare parts establishment, is formed.
The second generation takes over while Sugath Kodituwakku becomes the chairman and moves the business towards the Orient, with the introduction of Japanese spare parts. The company becomes Orient Commercial Company.
Orient Commercial acquires Philips distributorship for Sri Lanka.
Orient Holdings is established to setup a manufacturing joint venture with Clipsal Australia.
The third generation takes over with Kushan Kodituwakku and expands manufacturing with R&D capabilities.
With the acquisition of Clipsal by Schneider, the company became independent and the brand is switched to Orange Electric (Orient Range becomes O|RANGE).
Manufacturing is relocated to OREL Park, a greenfield project.
